About

Geir Gulbrandsen has been working as a tester in Telecom, Defence, Oil&Gas industry, and lately e-commerce since 2001.
He has been testing, training, presenting, troubleshooting and discussing design, with a focus on Ethernet functionality and networking.
Geir now lives in London, UK, enjoys photography, music, food and whisky. He has no cats, but a lot of dust bunnies.

+1 Testing is an attempt to build, or improve on, the authors exocortex as suggested by several smart people like Andy Hunt (in this book), Parimala Hariprasad, Martin Jansson, and others in the testing community, by jotting down some thoughts, wonderings, observations and discoveries related to the field of testing. The occasional book review, or other reviews, might also appear in addition to something completely different and unrelated. Generally, attempting to write about or describe something in a way that is actually understandable by others is always a good exercise.

The title is a reference to the skill system in role playing games and MMOs. Donning a pair of socks with the attribute ‘+1 Stealth’ would improve the chance of  your Stygian assassin to sneak up to her target unnoticed. In a similar way the process involving the ramblings on this blog will hopefully add to the authors testing related skills.

This blog is mainly intended for the benefit of the author and he has no delusions about being an authority on testing, but if anybody else should find its content even remotely interesting they are most welcome to add comments, thoughts, speeling corrections or other forms of feedback.

  1. Hi Geir,

I came across your blog and I was wondering if you would be interested in guest blogging on TEST Huddle.com?

In case you are unaware, TEST Huddle is a software testing community that was launched by EuroSTAR Conferences back in February 2014 and there has been steady growth of members ever since. Today we are proud to say that we have over 2000 members and counting.

Adding a blog post to TEST Huddle is easy as we have an upload resource option available on the site.

    You can upload here: http://testhuddle.com/resources/upload-resource/

The sooner you upload your blog, the sooner we could add it to the blog schedule.

I look forward to hearing from you,
    Kind regards,
    Daragh

    1. Hi Daragh. Thanks for noticing. As you could see I am not exactly what you would call a prolific blogger, but it happens from time to time. I will keep your suggestion in mind for the next time.
      Cheers,
      Geir
